The Old Gang 01:09
What happened to the old gang? We never get them out And all my so-called new friends Never get my jokes So I'll keep waiting on that phone call You're probably waiting too We'll see who waits the longest, me or you We'll see who waits the longest, me or you

We*rdos 04:02
Gentle like a giant Machine gun snare drum quiet Don't you make a move Nobody's selling out these old rooms Nobody cares like we do For these sacred places of our own All us weirdos and amateur Steganographers, waxing so political Beneath the freezing air we stir Like fragile stars colliding Each coming in and out of being To offer up our hymn for her We stumble all the way home Your apartment's closer than mine We talk of making changes Of the evolution of a life Can't ever seem to leave, us two Why can't we make up our minds? Because despite our loathing We cling to these division lines Because we've always been this place Because we've always been here Because long after they've forgotten all our names We'll still be howling through these plains Shine on, aurora No one seems to notice anymore No one seems to notice anymore No one seems to notice anymore No one seems to notice anymore How many degrees it dips below Or people do you know from GC? Winnipeg can kill you, so We plan our changes in degrees As cautiously, you slip out To warm the car before we leave

2:30 Friday night Been logged in since I first got home from work Pushing at the waist I'm feeling some distaste For what, I can't be certain But I'm hanging by some Some random forum thread These late nights they They get into my head And lately, I can't sleep Without the light on But timetraveler1 You had me at "I'm from the future" So please make me believe in anything Even though I know it's not true timetraveler1 You had me at "I'm from the future" So please make me believe in anything Even though I know it's not true

Confetti 03:26
Now you're standing there Confetti in your hair You're pretending not to cry But it's looking like you're really on your own So I walk up to your side I try to crack a joke 'Cause if I can make you smile You'll know that you're not alone You say that you're just tired That you just needed air But you came here all alone And I swear that half-smile's telling me I shouldn't go So I, I could get us one more drink There's a park just down the street Let's play like we're still kids On and on and on we'll go On and on and on we'll go On and on and on we'll go

It's just me, myself, and Robot Nothing to be that I'm not Just me, my guilt left to rot No more lonely late night walks A can of paint will chip away A human life will do the same But her batteries will stay For more recharges than I have days And that's more than enough like love to me Just me, myself, and Robot Nothing to be that I'm not Just me, my guilt left to rot No more lonely late night walks Now it's just me, myself, and Robot

Where are you, Johnny? Where did you go? Still calling to me, Johnny In dreams and codes Never growing old now, are you? Did you ever learn how to fly? You never learned how to cry I do it for you, Johnny I do it alone I do it for you, Johnny boy If I don't breathe, will I disappear from the place I'm standing? If I never call, I could be on some other planet And you would never know You would never know what happened If I don't move, will I fade away in this mirror? Skin just like a ghost, wandering this house just waiting Waiting for your call Ask me if I'm real, won't you baby? Ask me if I feel anything at all, won't you baby? It's funny how each minute I wait makes it that much harder If you want to talk, wouldn't you have called on me by now? I know it sounds lame, but that's just how it is for me baby But if I don't speak, maybe we just fade out sooner In minutes or days, we could just erase what we made up 'Cause everyone breaks So ask me if I'm real, won't you baby? Ask me if I feel anything at all, won't you baby?

Bleats 01:42
These tiny shadow-casters And these unloved bastards Singing incomplete Melodies in sheepish little bleats Rain immerses to these verses Low down in these streets Where unturned stones protect These bones These hopes This meat Stand tall amidst the fall rain Coming down in cold sheets Stand alone Stand alone Rattling bones And feeble reeds of sinew Ringing songs of freedom To the rhythm of one Barely beating heart beneath

about

Songs for the end of the world.

In the fall of 2020, I started recording my daily practice sessions. I could feel my daily ritual turning into a sort of musical therapy, some needed refuge from the chaos that can feel like it's closing in around us. These aren't happy songs, but I hope they may provide a little refuge for others, too.
